The lead up to Christmas is always an exciting time. What is going to be the must buy toy? What are the holiday make-up sets? What is the best buy in perfume sets? What are the new product launches?
The least exciting is ............... what am I going to buy as gifts that also won’t break the bank!!
A Christmas range that I always look forward to seeing (and smelling) is the one from Rain Africa. So much care and attention to detail is put into the creation of the annual Christmas range and there is always something new.
On Saturday 21 October I attended the launch of #RainChristmas #GiftsFromNature at the Rain store in the Pavilion Shopping Centre, Westville. The owners of the Pavilion Rain store Yusuf and Ryan also own a store in Gateway and at the new Ballito Junction. They always make their events special for bloggers and media and this event was no exception. Delicious snacks and drinks were available for refreshment and the store was open only to invited guests.

Yusuf welcomed everyone and told us how excited he was about this year’s Christmas products. Each product was brought out by one of the Rain staff who were also dressed in an outfit using the fabric made especially for the festive season. Once he had explained about the products we had fun placing the items on the table for display.
The scents for this year’s #RainChristmas are Verbena and Patchouli & Myrrh and the colours are copper, natural and light green for the packaging. There are 31 items in the Christmas range and they are priced from R95 through to R650.
I asked Yusuf and Ryan to tell me which of the products from the Christmas range they love the most. Yusuf loves the Indulgence Box (R650) as he is a huge fan of variety and this feels like getting six presents in one.
Ryan loves the Glass Bauble’s (R175) as they are collector’s items containing a little token from nature. There are two different Glass Bauble’s for this year and next year they will change the contents.
Okay! You want to know what products I loved from the Christmas range. The first product that caught my eye was the Bag of Salts (R175) and not because of the content (which is awesome), but because of the packaging. A beautiful copper bag that looks just like a bag that would contain coffee beans!
My next favourite products are the Bath Oils (R199 each) which are packaged in lovely tall glass bottles. I’m a sucker for anything packaged in beautiful glass. There are six different types of Bath Oils – Wild Gum, Wood Spice, Amber Tangerine, Amber Verbena, Patchouli Myrrh with Lufa and Ginger & Orange.
The Christmas products are amazing but so are the rest of their products. There is something for everyone inside a Rain store – man, women, teenager and baby.
From the regular stock of Rain products Yusuf’s favourite is the Aloe Therapy Body Butter (R219) – he just loves the smell of it.
Ryan’s favourite products are the Tree Mists (R175) as it reminds him of Cape Town and the beautiful Platbos Forest where the ingredients come from.
My all time favourite from Rain is the African Rain Mist (R189) as I find the fragrance soothing and restful.
